About Thomas

Thomas Cogley is an impressionist painter working primarily in oils “en plein aire” meaning that he paints in the open air, all reflected in his outdoor landscapes, gardens, florals and still life’s.  Born in Carmel, California to an artist father, Tom’s exposure to art is lifelong.  Art was a common topic of discussion in the family throughout his formative years.  In 1985, Tom’s parents opened Cogley’s Art Center, a full-service fine art business complete with a gallery, art supplies, and custom framing.  At first, he signed on as framing department manager.  After a year Tom became seriously interested in painting.  He attended an oil painting workshop with John Cunningham of the Carmel Art Institute.  It was a full circle moment because Tom’s father had studied under Mr. Cunningham in the 1950’s.  Tom has worked with his father, Lloyd Cogley in mosaic, studied with renowned watercolor artist, Katheryn David of Florence, Oregon as well as oil painting with Keith Ward.

Gallery representation has included Second Street Gallery Bandon, Oregon from 1994-2011 and again currently, John Neipp Gallery in Ashland, Oregon 2011 as well as Thomas’ own gallery/studio, Signature Framing in Klamath Falls, Oregon 2017-2023.
